New ship for Celebrity ExpeditionsTwo boutique vessels to join the Celebrity fleetCelebrity Cruises will increase the fleet of its specialist adventure division from one to three ships in 2007
Celebrity Cruises has announced a second new ship to join its specialist arm, Celebrity Expeditions, which specialises in small ship cruising and adventurous itineraries. Celebrity Quest joins the fleet in October 2007, alongside Celebrity Journey, which will sail around Bermuda, and Celebrity Xpedition, which is based in the Galapagos Islands. The 710-guest Celebrity Quest - most recently sailing as Blue Moon, owned by Pullmantur but originally launched as R7 by the ill-fated Renaissance Cruises - will join the Celebrity Expeditions fleet in October 2007 after a refit. Like Celebrity Journey, which sets sail in May 2007, the vessel's smaller size allows for greater versatility, allowing Celebrity Cruises to offer guests exceptional ‘destination experiences’ and new ports of call. Each of the two new ships will have two speciality restaurants, butler service and concierge amenities in every stateroom and suite, and expanded spa services, as well as Celebrity hallmarks like the Martini Bar, Cova Café, Sushi Café, Michael's Club jazz/piano bar, casino and AquaSpa by Elemis. Celebrity Journey will sail seven-night Bermuda cruises from May through October, followed by a winter season including Antarctica, Brazil and the Chilean Fjords. Celebrity Quest will explore the Caribbean islands usually avoided by bigger ships, like St. Barts, Guadeloupe, Dominica and Turks & Caicos, followed by a series of 14-night eastbound and westbound Panama Canal itineraries featuring some of the most exotic destinations in Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama.
