Disney Cruise Line Introduces Disney Dream Ship, Rennett Stowe
Disney Dream, the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, offers activities exclusively for adults, including the restaurant Palo, several entertainment venues, and a luxury spa.

Disney Dream is the most recent ship added to Disney Cruise Line (DCL). Disney specializes in family cruise vacations, and offers special activities for family members of all ages and interests. In addition to offering venues and activities with children and adolescents in mind, Disney Dream provides numerous options designed to appeal to adults and restricted to those guests 18 years and older.

These activities and spaces include the adult-only restaurant Palo, a favorite dining option on DCL’s Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, as well as the Senses Spa & Salon, a fitness center, a private pool, and new entertainment venues that are collectively called The District.

Dream’s Palo, Disney’s Adults-Only Signature Restaurant

Disney Dream dining includes the redesigned Palo, DCL’s signature restaurant, which provides upscale dining for adults. Palo features ocean views and, unique to the Dream, an outdoor dining option. Palo’s interior features Italian-inspired décor, made up wood tones, custom art, and a rich color scheme of red, green, and gold. A vocal pianist entertains guests.

All these elements serve as the backdrop for Palo’s Northern Italian cuisine: antipasti, homemade pastas, prime cuts of meat, and seafood. Knowledgeable servers can suggest pairings from Palo’s extensive wine menu. Before or after dinner, guest can enjoy drinks next door at the Meridian lounge. Palo also serves a champagne brunch.

Dream’s Senses Spa & Salon

Guests visiting Senses Spa & Salon may choose among many treatments and packages. Salon services include hair, manicures, and pedicures. Salon Smile offers teeth whitening. Spa services offer a number of massages, body wraps, and facials, and the Rainforest room combines aromatherapy with steam, heat, and hydrotherapy.

Senses, a 16,000-square-feet facility spanning Forward Decks 11 and 12, boasts ocean views to enhance the spa experience. Guests can relax while seated indoors on heated mosaic tile chairs or enjoy the outdoor whirlpool hot tub that is accessible through a private teak deck.

Senses has 17 private treatment rooms. There are also two private luxury villas, both featuring an indoor treatment suite and a private outdoor verandah outfitted with a personal whirlpool, shower, and double lounge chair. Spa Villa offers a couples-massage package and amenities such as its tea and foot cleansing ceremonies.

Dream’s Gym

Disney Dream provides an almost 2,500-square-foot fitness facility with exercise equipment, including weight machines and cardio equipment, and locker rooms with showers. The gym offers complimentary classes (e.g. yoga, aerobics, spinning, Pilates) and fitness seminars. Personal-training sessions are available for an additional fee.

Dream’s Quiet Cove, a Pool Area for Adults

Located on Deck 11, Forward, the Quiet Cove Pool offers guests the opportunity to swim, sunbathe, and socialize with other adults. The Cove is a multi-level pool, with depths varying up to four feet, designed of interlocking circles. At the Cove, drew members will host games and other activities, while massage therapists from Senses Spa provide poolside treatment. The Quiet Cove is the location of the Cove Café, where guests can enjoy gourmet coffee, enjoy leisure reading, catch up on the news, and use the café’s WiFi-enabled laptop.

Dream’s The District

The District provides adults with several entertainment venues. Five distinctly themed but interconnected spaces make up the District, all located on Deck 4, Aft.

  • District Lounge: A relaxed gathering area serving as The District’s entrance, this lounge offers lives piano music and entertainment.
  • Metro Pub: An updated version of a traditional pub, this bar includes several screens for watching live sports broadcasts and serves a wide selection of domestic and international beers.
  • Pink: An upscale cocktail lounge, Pink offers champagne –the drink which inspired its design – and other bar service.
  • Skyline: In this urban sky bar, guest can see city skylines from around the world that change every night.
  • Evolution: A contemporary nightclub, designed to evoke a butterfly’s transformation, Evolution has a dance floor and home to the Dream’s larger-scale events for adults.

Disney Dream sails on its maiden voyage on Jan. 26, 2011 and booking begins Nov. 9, 2009. The Dream will leave Port Canaveral and travel to Nassau, Bahamas, and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island on three-, four-, and five-day cruises. With its many offerings intended for adults, just as with the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Dream should appeal to a wide variety of families – including those without children.
