When taking a European cruise from Venice, Italy, choose from a number of Venice hotels close to Stazione Marittima, Piazzale Roma or St. Mark's Square.

Passengers on European cruises that start or end in the cruise port of Venice may extend their stay by booking a hotel near Piazzale Roma, Stazione Marittima, St. Mark’s Square or even the airport. Considering transportation options, flight times, and the amount of time to be spent in Venice should determine the best hotel to choose when taking a cruise.

Venice Hotels Close to Stazione Marittima

• Casa Sant’ Andrea – This is one of the hotels closest to the Stazione Marittima and the Piazzale Roma (the transportation hub of Venice). This former monastery was built in the 16th century and overlooks the S. Chiara Canal. The 29 modest rooms are clean and basic (no TV), but there is an internet station by the front desk for guests (nominal charge). Doubles start at 116 Euros per night.

• Carlton Grand Canal – This 4 star hotel is within walking distance of the Piazzale Roma. Renovated in 2001, the 18th century building features one hundred windows that overlook the Grand Canal. Although a standard double starts at 122 Euros, deluxe doubles with a canal view start at 189 Euros.

• Westin Europa & Regina – Located on the Grand Canal, this 5 star hotel faces the church of Santa Maria della Salute. The hotel is comprised of five historic buildings dating back to the 17th and 19th centuries, but the rooms feature the signature Heavenly Bed, a 32-inch flat screen TV and a luxurious marble bathroom. Rooms start at 295 Euros during the high season (more for a canal view).

• Bauer Hotel Venice – L'Hotel is a 5 star hotel located a two minute walk from St. Mark’s Square. The 109-room hotel features an intriguing mix of interior decor from ancient Venetian art to Art Deco furniture. All rooms offer LCD satellite TV and WiFi internet. Guests staying at L’Hotel can take the complimentary boat shuttle to the Palladio Spa at the sister hotel, Bauer Palladio on Giudecca Island. High season room rates start at 360 Euros.

• Hilton Molino Stucky – Located on Giudecca Island, the hotel is only 5 minutes from Piazza San Marco by hotel shuttle boat. In fact the hotel has its own landing jetty to ensure easy transfers to Venice’s main attractions. The hotel features a rooftop outdoor swimming pool and spa facility, and the guestrooms have plasma screen TVs, satellite TV, and wireless internet access. Room rates for a king start at 295 Euros in high season.

Venice Hotel near Airport

• Courtyard by Marriott Venice Airport – Passengers with early morning flights will appreciate the proximity of this hotel to the Marco Polo Airport (VCE). The Courtyard by Marriott is less than 1 km from VCE and 12 km from downtown. The rooms feature comfortable beds and marble bathrooms and the hotel provides a free airport shuttle. Room rates start at 135 Euro for a king.

Most cruise lines offer the option to book hotels directly through them as part of the total cruise vacation. But for an extended stay in Venice, cruise passengers can save money by booking these hotels independent of the cruise line. For even cheaper Venice hotels, look for accommodation in nearby cites such as Mestre.
